2017 Creative Writing Class
We will cover story structure, description/setting, dialogue, literary devices, the question of genre, narrative, and voice. I’ll give a few very brief introductions to some basic theory that might shape your story and voice. Note: this is not a literature class; it’s a writing class. Every week we will have a craft lesson, limited reading, in-class writing, and optional take-home writing on your own project, or on an assigned piece. It’s not a credit course, so you set your own pace. The goal is to get you started, to build your writing muscles, and to gain a perspective on process and craft.
